Description
This video is really about whether the AEKE IKE K1 solves the biggest smart gym problems better than the competition. Joel has owned it for 6 months, and this is the kind of real-world demo buyers actually need before spending the money. Joel bought the AEKE IKE K1 after comparing it to other smart

There we go. Hey, welcome to another Tobey on Fitness Tech episode. I've got Joel here with me. And we wanted to talk specifically about the Now, how do you pronounce it cuz I think I've been pronouncing it wrong? The >> They say it's IKE. IKE, okay. >> Like, you know, Eisenhower, I K E. Okay, IKE. So, the IKE. And you have the K1, right? That's the original model. Yeah. And I was I was trying to figure out one I would I went back and watched some more people demoing this thing because um because it looks like they've made massive progress since when I was originally looking at the devices to where that thing is today. Um and I wanted to ask you specifically around they have a different technology than what Tonal has and what Speediance is going to have for how they do the the um uh how do you call it? It's like the AI-based um detection of your actual lifts. >> assessments. Yeah, yep. >> Yeah. And I was wondering one, does that slow down your lifts because it massively does on the Speediance and the Tonal because they're not using the internal camera. So, you have to like So, >> tilt it around. um Here. Let me I've got my phone. You got to let it in the the meeting though. Yep. Okay, let me see. Uh admit it. Oh, okay. There we go. All right, hold on. Let me uh I'll do it this way. Perfect. Okay, so there's the device. Yep. I'll just walk over. So, the uh The worst part about it, I don't know, can you see all the fingerprints? Yep. Yeah. So, let me um switch switch on the side. I don't You seeing this okay? Yep, I see it perfectly. That is one thing, the screen seems way higher resolution than the Speediance. It's a 4K screen. Yeah. Okay, that makes sense. So, one of the bugs that I ran into right here. Yep. Hang on. That's amazing. You can see that screen from this far away, whereas with the Speediance, you really have to be up to it because it's just such a smaller screen. I will say this makes me more excited about their next version that has the tonal style arms. Yeah. Sorry, I got to fix this now. That's fine. Yeah, I wasn't sure if I tried to hit mute on one of these it would it would mute you all together. All right. Okay. So, basic screen. Actually, let's pause the recording and start over. Okay. Let me see. I can host tools. Record. Here it is. Let me Okay. Sorry, I wanted to turn the recording back on. Yeah, this is the the main screen that you come in. Um when you first get the machine, it has you go through an assessment. Yep. And it's basically um there's a scale that comes with it and that'll do your body composition. Um I don't know if you can see down here, this black thing. Yep. That's just a magnetic cover. The camera is right here. Oh, camera's at the bottom. Yep. Huh. Yeah, on the Tonal it was at the top. I'm shocked they put it at the bottom. Nope, that's where it's at. >> I guess it's bottom facing up to get your, you know what I mean, to get your whole body instead of Tonal which is top facing down. Yeah. Oh, and they By the way, the Tonal they don't use the camera, which is even more crazy, you know. Like it wasn't high enough resolution. Yeah. But basically, you go through all the the assessments and it tests, you know, how flexible are you, are how's your posture, um what your actual strength is on a number of different exercises, your flexibility, you know, how how you move and it uses a camera. It's a It musculoskeletal camera, basically. Got you. >> So, it tracks how your muscles are moving. So, when you're doing a workout, um there's only a few workouts that do it right now, but they're just releasing 15 more or something along those lines. I don't remember the exact number. Um but it will track your posture as you're doing the workout and tell you, "Hey, you're lifting too much with your left arm." Or your shoulder's out of balance or that kind of thing. Okay, so those posture-based things, those are not across all workouts. Those are specific workouts that they've tuned to be able to do that. >> time, their plan is to release it for all of their workouts. Now, how well does it work? And does it Is it slow and laggy? Or is it Is it fast and responsive? It's almost instant. Wow. Okay, that's awesome. Um yeah, cuz that was my big problem with the Tonal is uh when when you went to and I'm going to have the same problem with the Speediance. They're using your camera on your phone because the camera they included on the device wasn't good enough. So, what that means is you have to set it up and get it in the exact right angle and finicking with it was more work than you know what I mean, than the net result of getting the form feedback. Well, this is what I was saying. It's just right here. >> It's just right here. They give you this little um you know, magnetic thing to cover over for privacy or whatnot and it just literally sticks over it. Okay. Now, one other question about the device itself, um does it have I I know now they have custom workouts and when they originally launched, they didn't, right? You can now like pick your own You can now pick all of your own exercises, all of that kind of stuff. So, you got all all this and this is, you know, like like here, three-day split program size and strength, three times four weeks, um or, you know, all the different that. These are their in their basic program. Yep. Um free workout is where, you know, just start something and and basically open practice. You just set the weight and you do whatever you're going to do. Okay. Or, you know, here's all the you know, here what do you want to work? So, we'll say shoulder and here's all the different shoulder-based Now, will it let you save those so that you can use like a pre You know what I mean? So, that you can build your own preset workout? So, like here, we'll do Sorry, and then it kind of tells you what's going on and gives you a basic thing. But, I can say you know, we'll select this one, how many sets, how many reps, do you want it first set as warm-up, and add it. And you notice up here, selected moves. So, now we'll come down here. We'll add it down here. We'll add it. So, now I've got three selected moves. Next, and here's your custom workout. Okay, and I'm assuming based upon the fact that they don't have you have weight selections at all, that they're using dynamic like they're using a progressive overload system based upon your strength assessment in the beginning to to do that. Similar to what um Like Speediance has both, right? But Okay, so yeah, this is what I wanted to see. It forces you to get in front of it. Exhale as you push up. Inhale to control the descent. Okay, and it is detecting you. That's interesting. You know, and here's where you set the Now, do you know if if once you've done the strength assessment, if it automatically upload updates those uh update those updates those values to what you know what I mean? To what it what you're capable of? Cuz I'd imagine it will. Um this So, the custom workout, as far as I understand right now the answer is no. Okay, it does not. The AI workout Oh, they have a whole okay. Um so here like AI coach this one you know, what what piece of equipment you want. So there's a crossbar. Yep. They have a single button. Which I prefer by the way. >> or disengage the weight. That's all it does. >> Yeah. Sorry. Now that is that does that move? Can you move that around like you could Yeah, you can move it around like you can on the The That's one of the things by the way with the speediance that I had to buy a clip for the ring to basically get that because that's what I want. I want a thing affixed to the bar. That's I my opinion superior to the ring. So your handles, your buttons here. Yeah, I heard a lot of people complain about that button. That was the one major complaint I heard online where people would grip hard and accidentally hit that button. Yeah, I mean you grip it depending on how you grip it and it puts your thumb right there. Yeah, that's what I heard too. >> of roll it. Yeah, that was the major complaint I'd heard online. Which is actually not You know what I mean? It's a minor complaint other than if you turn it off mid-lift. >> where where am I placing you know, in other words, I'm going to put it up over here. Yeah. >> So it's on the opposite side. Kind of a thing. Yeah, you got to place your hand in the right spot. Yeah. Which I don't have very big hands. So it wouldn't be a problem for me, but Brock Lesnar would have a problem. You know, with So anyway, AI stuff you know, I want to work chest and legs today. I want about a 20-30 minute. And I got a fitness bench. I'll use crossbar. And you just say generate. Oh, um we'll say muscle gain. Okay, so there's your there's your three target modes. Yep. And here's what it's picked for you. And this is based on my assessment. Okay, so that's going to be based on your assessment. So, you know, here's your what the warm-up is going to be, here's your training actual session, and then there's a cool down that I built for you. Can I see that warm-up one more time? I want to see what if it's using movements or if it's using like dynamic stretches. Dynamic stretches. Okay. That's one of my biggest complaints about all of these machines. I use the challenges the way I lift is I I lift with a warm-up set. You know, a So, I'm I'm going in there and I'm doing my exact movements with a warm-up set. Yeah. I mean, I I typically kind of skip the warm-up and I'll just do a light training. Oh, you might be able to do that. What's the second I can't quite see it the second toggle that's beside the There's two um There's two beside that info button. Yeah, those two. What are those? So, AA and then BB or ABAB. Oh, got you. Alternating, yeah. Yeah. Okay. Now, here's based on my assessment, it wants to start me at 10 to 15. Is that what we're doing? Okay, got you. Okay, so to do I wouldn't really be able to do the type of workout that I do. You know what I mean? Just from a Yep. Where I where I do all warm-up sets on on each individual exercise. Well, you can also use the their app to create your custom workout. Okay, so you can. You can. >> And then you can upload that to your machine. Okay, so it is just like They've gotten to That's what I thought. I'm pretty sure that I was like, "I'm pretty sure they've gotten to parity with Speediance for You know what I mean? In terms of all of those features. Yeah. I actually had a So, I my rotator cuff got injured um on the job. Oh. You know, I was given from the physical therapist, "Here's a bunch of exercises to do." And I said, "Well, I got this beautiful machine sitting here that I can't use right now because I don't want to screw anything up. So, I I sent them off to I support. And I said, hey, could you help me map these two workouts so I can create a you know, create a workout to be able to do this. Yeah. >> And about 2 weeks later I had this. Oh, wow. Look at that. >> everything that my physical therapist had laid out. They converted it into exercises. Um of you know, here's all the different things that the the physical therapist mapped into what the I can do. Yeah. And they just, you know, here it is. Yep, I've had I've had similar shoulder injuries and at the time I had a personal trainer thankfully. But yeah, no, this looks like what the personal trainer had me doing. It's miserable. You know. And this one you know, there's block two is actually using the machine and then down to cool down. Yeah, I will say I'm pretty impressed and I honestly think when their next generation, the one disappointment I had with their next generation is it's not going to be heavier weights. You know, I was really hoping for something that was on parity with the 260 lbs. Um >> Well I mean, if you think about it and you you think outside the box like that set up that you have Yeah. >> you have that extra frame around your speediance. Yep. Well, what would happen if you slid that out? So, I'm going to come down here. So, that's where the mounting point is. Yep. You got that side >> and you got this side. So, if you if you brought that frame out to here and you just had a spare cable you know, that actually connected into the block down there. And you just ran extra cable. Now, you've got all of the weight there, but then you could add extra weight onto that cable at the same time. Yeah. Yeah, you can absolutely do that. Um So, you know, if you want an extra 50 kilos, there's your way to do it. That's where one person did want to attempt to do that with um you can buy like uh you know, you can actually buy the uh what do they call it? Like the actual things where you wrap the cable around where they add additional weight. But where they wanted to put it was on the speediance on the inside. They wanted to add it on the inside of it, which would have actually moved like it would have it would have potentially harmed the speediance where they wanted to put it. But putting it at the end states Yeah. >> You know what I mean? Up top, I think would be safe because you're going you're just adding resistance after the fact. Yep. Um not trying to add it >> are right, too. You know, if you actually put a pulley in there Yeah. now and you use, you know, just simple pulley math, you add add weight without really adding weight, so to speak. Yeah, with the That's what I'm saying. And as long as those pulleys are after like what you're talking about where the pulleys are up top, that's totally safe to do because you're just adding additional weight to these devices. Yeah, no, my rack could actually do that. I mean, I could do that today and I wouldn't want to, but I could do lat pull-downs at even higher weights. You know what I mean? If I if I did that instead of using the attachment point zero on the device, I I might want to think about that because that also that does one other major thing that I never thought about. It's putting the weight directly above you to make it more like a pull-up, you know? I it actually is kind of a better movement for what I'm looking for. You know what I mean? To have the weight directly above me. Yeah. Or or hang it on the outside and just use a dual cable system. So, you're using in your case the Gym Monsters cable resistance, but you're also at the same time pulling on a secondary cable that's connected to the weight. Yep. So, the >> Yes, that's that's another thing people >> by that extra weight. Yeah, people have I've that. And they've done real weights, too, that they've loaded onto the you know, loaded onto a bar, which is pretty cool to see. But, yeah, no, this this thing looks a lot better than I had expected, to be honest with you. Um One of the small gripes I've got is here. So, like it has today. Yeah. Well, I can go to Monday or that, but let's say today is Sunday. Well, Monday comes back to the first day of the schedule. Oh, it's not rotating to the next day. So, there's no way to see next Monday until you hit next Monday on the device. >> I mean, it's it's a minor gripe, but that's But, yeah, they should make it so that you can see the next Monday easily. You know what I mean? >> just let me scroll. Yeah. You know, or something along those lines. But, um So, like Bluetooth, there's all your your stuff. Oops. Oh, that was one other question. With the Speediance in particular, because of the ancient version of Android it's running under the hood, they are limited to three connections. So, >> So, like I can have all of these connected. Yeah, so that was what I was wondering. Okay, so you do not have any of those problems. I'm assuming that thing's Android under the hood, too. It's just a more modern Most likely, yeah. Yeah. A modern version. So, um you know, you can set the brightness. You can set the volume. Um how loud the the AI is. You can turn it off. All And of course, Wi-Fi. Yeah. Um what else? So, we've got, you know, today's effort, so you can track that simply. AI coach, I think we walked through that already. Yeah. But, you know, you can pick and choose what you want, and then it will generate based off of your assessment. Here is a recommended workout. You know, I just want to do legs today, and I want muscle gain. You know, and this is how long do to spend. Yeah. So, you know, down here highlights the muscles that Let's add the fitness bench and we want, you know, greater than 30 minutes kind of a thing. Now, Expedience is locking all of that behind a paid membership now. You know what I mean? This basic functionality. Have they announced that they're I mean, from what I read on the website, they said it's always going to be free, but that seems surprising, you know. Well, they're focused on selling the hardware. Okay. And like this machine has been upgraded. I've owned it for about 6 months now and it's been upgraded probably four times already. Okay. Um they're planning on quarterly updates. And there's a road map out there. I I can I'll point you to the link. Um there's, you know, feature road map and um a place where you can add your feature requests. And then they will, you know, based on how people vote, then they'll take it under consideration or trash it or, you know, Yeah. Um I don't think I don't show any courses yet, but this is basically the set of basic courses they have in here. And the list just keeps going on. You know, what do you want to do? So, let's go to chi gong. You know, here's all of the Oh, wow. And the camera tracks you for these. Okay, so that has full tracking. You know, Pilates, same kind of >> Similar to what the old Xbox Connect could do, I'm assuming. >> Yep. Yeah. Um yoga. I'm just kind of whipping through these. You know, just basic stretching. Um meditation as well. Yeah. High impact, just piles and piles of stuff. Um actual boxing. Now, when you bought that 6 months ago, watches you how you're doing. You know, basic recovery moves, all that. >> Yeah. You can filter up here, you know, what do I want to you know, I want to do something that's less than 15 minutes and we'll go done. Now, how well does the camera uh how well does the camera track you in these functional movements? Like throwing punches, that kind of stuff. How Um let's see. I got to watch my shoulder here, so Yeah, pick something that's going to be real Uh well, definitely not those moves. Not those. So >> Maybe that. Yes, that that's more So, I mean, I got the bench right here. 3 2 1 Go. Hi. Welcome to Ido. I'm Ido. In this session, we will learn a six-character form of ancient Chinese breathing. Okay, and they've translated it all. The mouth and throat exert force in different ways to impact various internal organs. By combining slow breaths, this technique has potential to Sorry, I'll just try to skip it. That's okay. Okay, so it's pulling it down in real time. I don't have the fastest internet in the world, so that's why it's kind of slow. Oh, that's okay. Uh it's just uh so Speediance pulls all of it ahead of time at the beginning of the workout, so the the beginning of the workout can be slow. You know what I mean? Um And I think it does do some live reads. So, it's pulling it down and and getting it all stacked up. Yeah. Like people want to sit here and watch Okay. >> Oh, there it goes. But yeah, so 6 months ago you got it, and um in terms of progress, I'm assuming they've made quite a bit of progress software-wise, even though it's quarterly. That would be two two quarterly updates, I'd assume. Shut that off, and we'll go back to the screen here. Okay. There we go. Yep. So, what other questions you got? So, yeah, yeah, so 6 months ago, and they've done two quarterly updates. How do you feel about it so far? Um like I know 6 months ago you must have made the decision to buy this over the Speediance, right? And I'm curious what the decision factors were. I'm guessing that camera's actually a big one. Um but what other decision factors kind of played into it? Um I got to turn you up here. I'm sorry. No, that's all right. There you go. Um I mean the machine-wise, you know, I got it on sale of course, but they're always on sale. Yep. Um do I think I got a good purchase with you know, did I pay the right price for it? I believe yes. Okay. Um with the updates that have come out, there's been a lot of good improvements. Um their support is right on top of things. You know, it's um it usually I mean honestly it takes them a day or two to get back to you unless it's an urgent issue and then they seem to be right on top of it. But as far as support, they're right there with you. Okay, and that's one of the big criticisms of Speediance of course. So I mean you see it in their you know, uh their Facebook group, right? People are going to the Facebook group to get support. And even I've had to, right? Because it's like they ghosted me through the support channel. I go to Facebook and I get the response within a day and it's like why you know, why I have to go to Facebook to you know. Yep. But I guess Facebook and um I think they got Instagram, you know, all the normal channels. So you can get to them that way, but they have a dedicated support email. Yeah, that's where Speediance Speediance has a dedicated support email, but it's like rolling the dice what you get your you know. See I've had phenomenal Yeah, the admins on the Facebook channel will contact support for you and have an expedited lane to get you an answer. Yeah, see me it was you know, I emailed support and I had you know, if I've had you know, hey how do I do this kind of things, um they've been you know, within I'll say 48 hours typically I'll get a response straight back from them. Well, it looks like it's a lot simpler to cuz like just getting on the Speediance just getting to the basic assessment is like three levels deep in menus to find it. You know what I mean? It's not on your dashboard. There's a lot of UX. And what's funny is they just redesigned the UX on the Speediance, and they didn't fix any of those issues. They just made it look prettier when you're when you're when you're working out. So, I'm I'm just logging into the app here. I can show you that in just a second. >> Okay, yeah. But yeah, I'm actually impressed by the device. I think, especially with their next generation device coming, if it had a higher resistance, See what that shows. Okay, yeah. I can see it. Um okay, so workout data, the health report. Yep. Yep, yep, yep. Uh and then when you go in and Sorry. Oh, the camera readjusted. Um let me I'll just go to home. So, there's your Okay, there's the home page. Yep. And you can go in and you can you can actually set your workout right up in here. Okay, got you, got you. And that's your body data. Okay. Um and then, you know, there's all your basic workouts. Okay. You know, like if you're at work and you're bored, you could kind of set up your custom workout. Yep. There we go. Um and you know, plan out your workout and then just upload it right to your device. Yep. That's what I do with the Speediance. You know what I mean? That same idea. And that's what I did with the Tonal before that. Is built custom workouts and then and then uploaded them. Sorry. Oh, that's okay. Yeah. Yeah, I get the idea. Yeah, that's that's pretty cool though. It seems pretty comparable in terms of feature set and except that it has this whole angle of having a camera already on it that's capable of actually tracking you. Yeah. I mean, when when we shut Go go ahead. Oh, I'm assuming it works about as well as the Connect V2 that was on the Xbox. I don't know if you ever played with those, but I'm assuming it's probably that quality. Um I mean, I haven't done an awful lot with uh the motion capture piece yet. Yeah. So, I I don't want to comment on that cuz I don't have enough, you know, I haven't used it enough. I literally bought it and within a few weeks my shoulder was injured. So. Oh, okay. Um, I mean, it makes a beautiful mirror in the living room. Yeah, that's I've that's what one of my videos I was commenting on someone who's 6'4" 260 lb and you know, wanted to buy the Speediance or or or a whole bunch of other devices. And my reaction to them was is don't buy them because of the fear around that. You go to a personal trainer, you know. >> Just because a personal trainer will force you to to to work through it, you know. But, it sounds like you're doing the right things with the recovery workouts, you know, that's that's the same thing. I mean, I I live in a rural area. So, for me a personal trainer is about an hour and a half south to to get to the city where the personal trainers are. Oh, yeah. So, for me, I mean, I got a local gym, but there's like what was it? 65 bucks a month? Just >> Yeah. And there's there's there's nobody there. Their trainers aren't going to be the level of the, you know, what I had. Like, I had, you know, I was doing jujitsu competition. So, I had a specialized personal trainer at a boutique. You you see what I had. Yeah. Um but unfortunately during COVID I lost that. Right? Cuz I also moved out to the mountains and they shut down. And I used to drive out of the mountains the hour drive to get to work. So, that could then justify going to the personal trainer. So, I had the drive you you know. Yeah. This one for me, um, I wanted to get back doing exercises and I looked at the AI as just a I want to walk up to the machine. I want it to just tell me, "Here's the workout we're doing." and just do it. Yeah, I I don't I don't want to have to think about it. I just, you know, let me do it. I realize at some point I'm going to outgrow that. Yeah. You know, I'll give start to want to build my own. But at that point to me, the machine will still be there. I was going to say, yeah, you've got tons of time. It It'll take years, you know, it took me I did the Tonal regular workouts for probably 6 months before I got the Arnold workouts, which I'm not doing my own workouts. I'm just doing Arnold's workouts instead of their workouts, right? I'm not like you know, and then I moved over to my own thing after that, but Yeah. So, for me it was just the the what's the the easiest, fastest, simplest way for me to want to work out. And yeah, personal trainer would have been the best option, but that's that's not available where I'm at. So, >> Yeah. you know, it was like I looked at Speediance, I looked at Tonal, I looked at Aik, and you know, this one kind of came up. I also like the look of it. Yeah. Looks beautiful. I mean, it looks beautiful. The OxFit is the one that my friend has that um that I I have to get out and actually visit him to see that, but that also requires bolting to the wall and a membership. And you know, Yeah. I mean, this one it's got two big wheels on the back of it. Yeah. Um I I have found out that the when the the platform, you know, kind of folds forward, I have tile floor, and the the little wheels catch on the grout in the tiles. Oh, got you. So, I I it you know, it it's just my particular circumstances. Yeah. I can put a mat down or something like that, and then it'd be fine. Yeah. Or just kind of fill in the gap where the wheels go. Yeah, I see what's happening. It's Yeah, it's catching a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. >> But thing. Yep. Sorry. Yep. So, as I was saying, you know, I can literally take this thing and wheel it around wherever I want. It's >> Okay. It's light enough for me to to move around myself. Um you know, can I get it up or down steps? No, I'm you need a second person for that for sure. Yes, yeah. I had to do the same thing with the Speediance. It's too I mean, it's 200 lb, so in theory, I like in theory, I have the strength capability to get it up and down the steps, but in practicality, there's uh It's awkward. Yeah, and and and and and you need a second person to really stabilize it. You know, so I can lift it, but I can't stabilize it. Yeah. I mean, like most of the weight is below, but there's that, you know, the huge I as I call it, the huge iPhone screen, and that kind of over balances things, Okay. >> a bad way, if that makes sense. Yeah, no, I I I Yeah, it's the same the Speediance was the the same way. Now, the one thing with the Speediance, so yours has an automatic thing that comes down, right? The Speediance, the first generation, uh has a button, and it has a thing on the screen telling you to hold it with two hands. And of course, I ignored that. And so, I hit the button and dropped it on my head. Okay. >> The new one has a spring, and it slowly comes down on its own, right? It's not like digital like yours. Like I think yours comes down and then rolls out, right? Yeah. Oh. Which is just a cool thing, you know what I mean? Not really doesn't change your ability to work out, but whenever I saw it, I'm like, "Ah, that's kind of cool." Can you see this okay? No, I can't. Yeah, zoomed up somehow. I will uh you want to pause the recording? I'll get the phone back in. Yep. Okay. Here we go. I've got it back where it was recording. >> Basically, on the side, you see this right here? Yep. That's your power button and the legs. If I hit this, Oh, I see. It's it's powering it up, too. Yep. If you look very carefully right in that joint, can you see in there? Yep. There's the two cables are there, and that's what's actually pulling it up. Oh, it's being pulled up by its cables. Yeah. Okay. Sorry about >> That is an interesting design mechanism, and that's why those things are locked in place like that. Yep. Huh. That is such an a different design. Huh. What's funny is I watched some reviews online and I didn't notice that that's that's the way it actually works. That those cables are actually what's pulling it in. So, um here's what I was saying about the the towel floor. You can kind of see I've got, you know, every foot. Yeah. So, coming down, there's wheels I get stuck. So, I got to kind of nudge it past them. Yeah. Okay. Uh I see what you're saying now. That gives a clearer picture of kind of how this thing works. Yeah. And I'm assuming with the total redesign of the next one, that platform is going to work completely differently and probably be pulled down like with a spring like the Speediance. Just cuz the because they're using the actuator arms from the Tonal. Yeah, I imagine they've gotten away from that. I'll have to look at it. Um but I imagine they'll go away from that to build the next unit. That's pretty interesting, though. Yeah, that is really really interesting. You know, if like I just leave it I leave the platform down um cuz I have room for it, but you know, for someone who's has it, you know, in their living room and they're using it kind of as a giant mirror, you know, you can pull up the platform up and you know, now it's kind of out of sight, out of mind. When you want to work out, you just hit the button. It takes it, you know, a minute minute and a half to to un- unfurl, but now it's there and you can use it and do your thing. When you're done, you hit the button and now it's packed up away. Yeah, I was looking over and I'm like, oh yeah, my platform is down right now in my office and there's no reason to have the platform down right now. I'm too lazy to put it back up. Oh, and it has the uh there's locking mechanisms on the Speediance on either side. You if you forget to lock those, it uh it's really dangerous to use. So, I don't think yours has that same locking mechanism. There's no mechanism. >> Um you do need weight on the platform before you use it. >> But where the where the uh you know, where the toggles are, you're going to be standing on top of them anyway, basically to to use them how you want or you got the bench on it or that kind of stuff. So. Yeah, that that's the same way with the Speediance, right? All of these devices and I think even their Gen 2, even though it has the actuator arms, because it's not bolted to anything, it's going to have the same you have to be on the platform, which you're on the platform anyways. It's not It's not a big I I haven't moving over from the Tonal where it was bolted to the wall to this thing, I haven't ever ran into a problem of being on the platform being a problem, you know? Yeah. Uh although I definitely did run into a not locking it down and having the screen come pulling at me problem, but that's you know, cuz there's also no instructions with the Speediance. It looks like this thing they've built. So Well, there is instructions, but it's not easy to read and it's a manual and not on the screen, right? Like it was with the Tonal, everything that it can do is on the screen when you start up and it looks like this, everything is the aky It looks like everything is kind of on the screen when you start up. >> Yeah. I mean, there's >> know. You know, the unboxing, you you can see that online. Um the packaging was great. The I mean, it arrived to me no damage whatsoever. So that's, you know, function of the shippers, of course. Yeah. Um it it took them about a week, week and a half to get it to me. Yep. So not, you know, for freight, that's not too bad for the area that I'm at. Yeah. Um and there's, you know, here's right when you open the thing up, here's a a QR code, you scan that and boom, you're here's the video on how to unbox it, here's, you know, how to set it up, here's, you know, and they took me step by step through the entire process. Yeah. So. That is pretty cool. Yeah. Yeah, it was easy to set up. I was Coming from the Tonal where you have to have a professional come come and bolt the thing onto your wall or you know, whenever we moved it, a buddy of mine, it's a two-person install, right? To bolt that thing to a wall. To have the Speediance and we literally just carried it up here, you know? So, and it was just a matter of getting it here. Getting it cuz I have like I'm in an ancient Victorian house. So, getting it up the steps was uh was a little bit of a process. Yeah. I had a skid steer to to get it up my steps, so. Oh, okay. That's cool. Probably a little bit easier on Yeah, that's an easier approach. But yeah, that was pretty cool. That is an interesting device, and I think their next generation device is going to be uh even more interesting with the Tonal style arms. Yeah. Well, they they said they've been working on it for I think it was 2 years now. 2 years, okay. >> And, you know, they they basically, as far as I can tell, they looked at, you know, here's what all of the the market is doing. Now, let's look at the Tonal, let's look at the Speediance, let's look at our K1, and how can we blend all of these together? You know, what are the good features of each one? Yeah. And they basically stole that feature from, you know, like the Tonal, you've got the arms. Yeah. Okay? That make That gives you a lot of flexibility. So, let's add arms to ours. You know, um make it a smaller screen because you don't need the giant iPhone sitting behind you, so to speak. Yeah. Um you know, if they've also said, you know, the K1 is their their flagship version. Yeah. They've said that, you know, that's not going away. It's, you know, now and forever they're going to keep updating it and so on and so forth. So, um you know, it's it's not like um Speediance. Yeah. Where kind of the the the gen ones are sort of there, but they're kind of getting pushed off to the wayside. Yeah, for the first time Yeah, Yeah, going to say for the first time with the Speediance, it's not getting two of the new features. So, the Pilates feature and uh well, I don't consider it a feature, but the the safety smart. I've the safety start stuff, I'm very anti that feature. Like, that's That's not feature, that's a bug, you know, in my opinion. They They added a bug to my And not only that, it actually broke my 2S in a weird way. So, now that it has cuz the what happened is the firmware for it didn't get shipped with the 2S like it did the two. So, the two is still their primary device that they sell, right? Okay. Like, that's the device that most people buy. So, I have the 2S and they didn't build the firmware for the 2S. So, they rolled this out and I had a button that just didn't work on my screen. And then they rolled out firmware that actually makes it so that the retraction is odd. And I've been back and forth with Speediance support and they're saying it's a feature and I'm saying it's a bug. You know what I mean? And it's like, this is definitely a bug. Cuz it's not the way it worked when I bought the machine. And they're like, "No, it's for your safety." And I'm like, "It's annoying." You know? Yeah. And the the I have the the original downstairs and it doesn't have any of these problems. Cuz it doesn't have the safety start. Right? So, it doesn't have the feature, so it doesn't have the flaw. The annoyance. Yeah. So, uh yeah, no, I think they And it looks like it doesn't have like it looks like they probably took the same camera in the new one, I would imagine if you know what I mean? So, you're not going to have issues with that. It's probably The only thing I'd be worried about is I didn't look to see if there's a processor upgrade. Do you know if the new one will have I I haven't looked. Yeah, because that's well, and the worst is with Speediance, they didn't say there was a processor upgrade. So, on their website, it doesn't tell you, but I I reached out to them because one of the users online said something really weird about how they got they have the original and they have the two and it loads fast and I never noticed it. But it does. It it loads a lot faster. And they're both on the same network so it can't be network latency. Like they're both you know, and they're both equidistant from the router. So this is the same. >> out and say that the because of the new features, that's why you know, the version of one can't have the because of there wasn't enough horsepower in it. So >> Yeah. And and then they don't show on the website and I finally I reached out to them and that was one instance where experience was really good. They got back to me with the exact processors in the devices and then said, "Hey, don't share this. But here's exactly what's in them." And no, they are markedly improved processor. Like from the original to the 2S and the two. Like the two and the 2S share a processor. It's markedly different. So of course they're going to have problems with dynamic tracking of like cuz to do all the I'm assuming that also has the dynamic resistance modes. Yep, it does. Yep. Yeah, because all of these are you know what I mean, that's >> basically the same. Yeah, that was Tonal's bread and butter, right? Whenever they originally came out was the dynamic resistance and then honestly it's what makes these things like any of them so much better than in my opinion working out in the gym. Yeah. Right. Okay, yeah, thank you. Thank you so much for this demo. I really appreciate it. Yeah. So Okay, let me stop the recording.
